Our Schools Lineage

I would like to point out that whilst a good lineage to certain

masters of the past does help the new student get an idea of

what kind of martial arts are being taught within a club, it is

not a stamp of real skill . And it does not mean that because

you have a good lineage, your kungfu skill will automatically be good.

Unfortunately today people use their lineage as some sort of

certificate of their skill, it is no such thing,!!

And to be honest over the years i have found that most

instructors with this "pure lineage" are more than often the

worst in skill. Many teachers just live off the reputation of their

teachers or their teachers instructors.

What you must ask is what has the instructor of the school you

are going to done? Or what can he/she do?

Some of the most amazing martial artists I have ever met

have had no direct lineage at all, but they trained hard and

attained real skill. We at the school of chinese martial arts

are lucky to boost a good strong lineage with great instructors.

To new students looking for a martial arts school, yes do

find out with whom the instructor studied. This will help

you to see if he/she has been taught what you are looking

to study, but at the same time you must take each

club individually. I have many kungfu brothers/sisters and

associates, some of whom are a very high level, whilst

others are no more than beginners. But they all teach.!!!

It is the students job to try use his/her common sense.

You will be able to tell the quality pretty quickly from

the senior students, if the instructor and student's spend

most there time talking about mystically qi power and special

secret techniques, and secret training for special

people whom are deemed worthy (normally meaning

they have allot of money) it's time to leave, even if

they boost this pure lineage they dont know sh#t .

A real martial arts school will be easy to identify,

you will see it being demonstrated in the the middle

of the training floor, with those training hard and being

able to do what the say.

I cannot emphasis enough that if you are not taught

fighting skills within your first few lessons then its

time to leave. If the instructor cannot or does not

demonstrate techniques at full combat speed then he/she

probably can't !! When you are taught forms/taolu/kata you

should be explained and demonstrated the application and

then have it demonstrated on or to you. If you are not then

I would seriously reconsider studying at this school, as its

unlikely that you will learn any combat skills in such a club.

I say again... YOUR FORM IS ONLY AS GOOD AS ITS APPLICATION !!!

If the emphasis and details are not explained and demonstrated

to you in combat terms, i.e.: why it will or won't work,

then ask yourself what are you doing?

If I wanted to learn to dance id go to a dance studio,

almost all of the chinese martial arts are now just dance...........

I do not put our lineage down to try mislead students

into thinking our kungfu is a high level.

We will prove our kungfu is a high level by ourselves.
